19-year-old from Oxford arrested after loaded 9mm gun found in center console of truck

Adrian Nedd

A 19-year-old from Oxford was arrested after a loaded 9mm gun was found in the center console of a pickup truck.

Adrian Jaron Nedd had been a passenger in a green Ford pickup that was pulled over at 12:51 p.m. Wednesday at State Road 44 and County Road 231, according to an arrest report from the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office.

The deputy detected the odor of marijuana coming from the truck and the driver admitted marijuana had been smoked in the truck, but said there wasn’t any marijuana remaining in the vehicle. This prompted a search of the truck which led to the discovery of the 9mm handgun loaded with seven live rounds. The gun had a blue bandana tied around the trigger guard. It was determined that the gun belonged to Nedd, who is on probation through 2021 due to a previous conviction for trafficking in stolen property.

He was taken into custody and booked without bond at the Sumter County Detention Center.
