A 26-year-old living in the Marianna Villas was apprehended with methamphetamine after a traffic stop.
Brandon Lynn Baker, who lives at 3519 Marianna Place in the villa community within the Village of Collier, had been at the wheel of a maroon Ford F-150 pickup truck at 8:59 p.m. Wednesday when he was pulled over for a broken taillight cover, according to an arrest report from the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office.
A K-9 unit was called to the scene of the traffic stop at State Road 44 and Legion Avenue and the dog alerted on Baker’s pickup truck, indicating the likely presence of drugs. During a pat down, a methamphetamine “rock” was discovered in Baker’s pocket.
The New York native was arrested on a felony charge of drug possession and booked at the Sumter County Detention Center. Bond was set at $2,000.
