To the Editor:
As I was sitting in McDonald’s watching the cars slowly navigate two industrial speed bumps placed about 20 feet apart from each other, I could not help but appreciate how well these well constructed but simple speed and traffic control devices worked.
Every car crawled over each bump which jolted their vehicle quite a bit, but not enough to do any damage. When used in conjunction with a stop sign, these bumps could replace virtually all of our so-called security gate arms that are constantly being knocked off by people speeding through the gates. It would definitely slow the traffic down as well as save a lot of wasted dollars re-attaching gate arms. Some gates obviously would still need to be manned, but far fewer than what we have currently, again saving us money and streamlining our traffic flow. I think a discussion but those in authority would be worthwhile.
