To Congressman Daniel Webster:
I read your commentary that was published in the January 16, 2019 Villages-News.com about “We must embrace our duty to secure our borders.”
It is a shame that we have a partial government shutdown; many government employees are going without pay while you and your staff are still receiving their government paychecks.
You and your fellow Republican congressmen had a control of both houses of Congress for two years and YOU FAILED to obtain agreement among Republicans and push through the legislation to get the border security job done. What I have heard from the news media is that loss of the control of the House at a mid-term election often happens.
What I have seen for two years is the Republican Congress kicking the border security “can” down the road and then forcing a the partial shut-down. All Republican Congressmen, who is looking for someone to blame, should look in the mirror.
I am a registered Republican and I have questions for you:
Do you and your fellow Republican Congressmen feel guilty about NOT performing YOUR “duty to secure our borders” for the last two years while you had control of Congress?
Should you consider contributing you net pay for 2017 and 2018 to a fund to help the federal employees who are not getting their pay?
What are you actually going to accomplish during 2019 and 2020 to deserve re-election?
