A longtime member of the Lady Lake Planning & Zoning Board has passed away.
John Gauder, 82, of the Village of La Zamora, died Monday.
The former resident of Ohio had served since 2007 on the town’s Planning & Zoning Board. He was the current chairman of the board. He was frequently seen at town commission meetings, too.
Mayor Jim Richards lauded Gauder’s service to the town.
“John was a total gentleman who loved Lady Lake and used his knowledge and experiences to enhance and protect the town in his many years on the planning board. He handled the tough projects, which made our job that much easier,” Richards said.
Gauder, who moved to The Villages in 2005, lived in the ward of Commissioner Ruth Kussard.
“He was a true public servant,” she said.
Gauder will be buried in Ohio. A celebration of life will be held at 1 p.m. Jan. 29 at Chula Vista Recreation Center.
