Tyrie Thomas

A 30-year-old motorcyclist was killed Saturday in a fiery crash in Citrus County.

Tyrie Nathan Thomas, of Inverness, had been riding a 1997 Honda motorcycle at 5:14 p.m. on State Road 44 when he collided with a 2003 Honda Pilot driven by 31-year-old Nicole Lynn Tuten, of Hernando. She had been making a U-turn and drove into the path of Thomas’ motorcycle, which overturned and caught fire, according to an accident report from the Florida Highway Patrol.

Thomas, who had not been wearing a helmet, died at the scene of the crash.

Tuten and two passengers, four-year-old Connir Tuten and 57-year-old Thomas Lynn Fonner, of Crystal River, escaped injury in the crash.

The report noted that charges are pending.

Thomas’ Facebook page indicated he worked as a shift supervisor at Cal-Maine in Bushnell and is originally from Paoli, Ind.
