Rita A. Barbera

Rita A. Barbera, 92, of The Villages, FL, passed away Monday, January 21, 2019. Mrs. Barbera was born April 30, 1926 in Brooklyn, NY to Philip and Rosa (Sclafani) Lunnarola.

She was retired from Novocol Chemical Company in the quality control department. In 2003 she moved from Holly Hill to Whitehouse, TN and then to The Villages in 2012.

Rita was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, DAV and VFW. She loved cooking, music, playing the piano, bingo and bunco.

She is survived by her daughter and her husband, Maryann & James “Pepe” O’Baid of The Villages. Rita was preceded in death by her loving husband, Alfred F. Barbera.

A funeral mass will be scheduled soon in St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, Wildwood. Interment will be in Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Cornerstone Hospice, www.cshospice.org or St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, www.stjude.org.
