Villages gastroenterologist set for arraignment on child porn charges

Dr. Trini Vaidya

A Villages gastroenterologist facing multiple felony pornography charges is due for arraignment later this month.

Dr. Trinetra “Trini” Vaidya, 43, and his girlfriend, 38-year-old Katja Goen, were arrested last month after she allegedly supplied him with photos of her nude daughters, ages 11 and 12.

Vaidya, who has been suspended by The Villages Regional Hospital and had practiced for years at Gastroenterology Associates at the Sharon L. Morse Medical Building, had asked Goen for the pictures, as well as the girls’ panties, because it would “sexually gratify him.”

Vaidya, who lives in a marbled-floored home on the third fairway of a Jack Nicklaus signature golf course in Windermere, has not yet retained an attorney, according to records on file with the Seminole County court clerk. The investigation was undertaken by police in Oviedo, where Goen lives. She is facing multiple charges of possession and communication of obscene materials.

Both she and Vaidya are due for arraignment  on Feb. 19. She has retained attorney Richard Hornsby of Orlando.

Vaidya remains free on $120,000 bond.

Vaidya also practiced at Lake Endoscopy Center in Summerfield.

Vaidya graduated from the University of Miami School of Medicine in 1999. He completed an Internship, Residency in Internal Medicine and Fellowship in Gastroenterology at the University of California Davis Medical Center in Sacramento, Calif. He moved to Ocala in 2006.
