Kirk VanScoten

Kirk Louis VanScoten, 70, of The Villages, Florida passed away suddenly Sunday, February 3, 2019 at The Villages Regional Hospital, The Villages, Florida. He was the husband of Linda VanScoten for 34 wonderful years.

Kirk was born in Greensboro, Pennsylvania a son of the late Max and Marilyn VanScoten. He owned and operated Sumax Corporation in New York where he created and manufactured motorcycle accessories. He loved life, spending time with his family, golfing, motorcycles and making chocolate chip cookies to share with others. Kirk had a few favorite sayings including: “Love what you do and do what you love,” “It doesn’t cost anything extra to dream a little bigger,” and “If I’m not living on the edge then I’m taking up too much space.”

Kirk is survived by his wife, Linda VanScoten and daughters, Kierstin VanScoten Weber and her husband Chris of Wildwood, FL, Nicole BaiRossi and her husband Anthony Maldenado of The Villages, FL and sons, Derek VanScoten and his wife, Chantel of Austin, TX, Kristofer VanScoten and his fiance Laura Small of Boulder, CO, Frank Bairossi and his wife Danielle of Victor, NY. He has 9 grandchildren who meant the world to him: Rachel, Justin, Emily, Luke, Zack, Kaycee, Maryn, Jenna and Xyla. He is also survived by his brother, Craig VanScoten and sister, Linda Galston .

A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, February 9, 2019 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the Hiers-Baxley Funeral Services, 1511 Buenos Aires Blvd., The Villages, FL 32159.
