A pedestrian was injured early Friday morning when she was struck by a vehicle at Lake Sumter Landing.
The woman, who was attempting to cross the street in the pedestrian crosswalk in front of Johnny Rockets restaurant, was hit and knocked down by a SUV turning right onto Old Mill Run from Canal Street. The injured woman was treated at the scene by crews from The Villages Public Safety Department and transported by an American Medical Response ambulance crew to The Villages Regional Hospital after complaining of back pain, officials said.
The driver of the SUV, who said she didn’t see the woman crossing the street, was cited for failure to use due care toward a pedestrian.
Last month, a Villager struck a 79-year-old pedestrian at Spanish Springs Town Square. She blamed the glare of the sun.
