The son of a Villages couple has filed paperwork to seek a seat on the Marion County Commission.

Justin Grabelle filed paperwork Friday with the Marion County Supervisor of Elections office to run in District 1 in 2020.

Grabelle, the son of Howard and Dorothy Grabelle of the Village of Amelia, successfully ran in 2017 for a seat on the Ocala City Commission.

Grabelle ran in 2016 for the Congressional seat of his former boss, Congressman Rich Nugent. Grabelle lost the GOP primary to Congressman Daniel Webster.

Grabelle earned his undergraduate degree from George Mason University, where he was named an All-Conference Scholar Athlete, and his masters from James Madison University. His wife, Ginny, is a teacher at Blessed Trinity School. They have two sons, George and James.
