Woman finds suspicious baggie of white powder at Summerfield minimart

A woman approached a Marion County sheriff’s deputy at a Summerfield minimart Monday after finding a baggie containing a white powdery substance.

The 40-year-old woman said she was at one of the gas pumps at the Circle K, located at 14870 S U.S. Hwy. 441, when she found the baggie. She said she didn’t know what was in it but she believed it was a controlled substance and she didn’t want any children to touch it.

The deputy noted that the baggie contained a white, rocky substance/powder. He took it to the sheriff’s office to be destroyed and attempted to identify the substance, which appeared to be crushed pills. But a positive identification of the material couldn’t be determined, so it was destroyed, a sheriff’s office report states.
