Summerfield man claims valuables went missing while he slept behind locked door

A 69-year-old Summerfield man called a Marion County sheriff’s deputy for help Sunday, claiming he was robbed while he was asleep.

The man, who lives in the 9300 block of SE 144th Place, told the deputy that he went to sleep around 5 a.m. and when he woke up four hours later, his cell phone, driver’s license, debit card and cash were missing, a sheriff’s office report states, adding that the man claimed his bedroom door was locked the entire time he was asleep.

The report didn’t specify the value of each item that was taken but did list the crime as petit theft between $100 and $300. The deputy provided the man, who has a 24-year-old roommate, with a case number and asked him to call back if any further information becomes available.
