Lawrence Edwin Buckner, 81, of The Villages, Florida passed away on Sunday, February 17, 2019 while under the care of hospice. Larry was born in Abington, Pennsylvania on October 1, 1937. He was employed with Penn Engineering in Danboro, PA for 37 years as a Quality Control Supervisor. Larry began sharing his voice in the church choir at the age of 18 which he continued throughout his life. He also enjoyed participating in barbershop chorus with The Bucks County Country Gentlemen. Other church activities included umpiring for the church softball league, cooking and serving for the Men’s Breakfast, and missionary work. Larry also served his community as a volunteer firefighter for over 30 years at 3 different companies in Central Bucks County, PA including Midway, Doylestown, and Chalfont.
He is survived by his loving wife Joy Buckner; sons Benjamin Buckner (Theresa), Brooke Buckner (Lori), Joseph Collins (Lidia) and Jeffrey Collins (Christine); daughter Judith Lawrence (Joseph); brothers Harry Buckner (Caroline), and Frank Buckner (Joan); sister Irene Soloman; 17 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents H. Roy and Edith Buckner; brothers Howard, Tom, Bob, and Albert Buckner as well as his sister Dot Binger.
A celebration of life will be held on Thursday, February 21, 2019, at 1 pm, at New Covenant United Methodist Church, 3470 Woodridge Dr., The Villages, Florida 32162. There will be a private graveside service at Good Shepherd Memorial Gardens, Ocala, Florida.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to the New Covenant United Methodist Church Music Program.
