Vandals caused an estimated $500 in damage at the Galilee Christian Church Cemetery in Summerfield.
According to the Marion County Sheriff’s Office report, several vault handles were damaged between 8 a.m. Feb. 27 and 10:59 p.m. Sunday at the cemetery, located at 14539 S.E. 95th Ave.
The woman who reported the damage said she was unaware of anyone who would damage the property. She said the damage would have cost around $500 to fix but a family member of one of the people interred on the property made the repairs. She asked that the vandalism be documented in case in case something like it happens again.
