Woman ticketed after mishap damages mailboxes at Villages postal station

A woman was ticketed after a mishap Monday morning damaged mailboxes at a postal station in The Villages.

The woman pulled into the postal station in the Village of Glenbrook at 9:20 a.m. and her foot slipped off the brake and onto the gas pedal, according to the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office.

Some mailboxes were damaged in the incident Monday morning.

Her vehicle jumped the curb, hit a Villages Daily Sun newspaper box at the postal station and the box was pushed into the building.

The woman was not injured, but she was ticketed on a charge of careless driving.
