Man arrested at Water Oak after dispute over payment for tree removal work

A man was arrested at Water Oak after a dispute over payment for tree removal work.

A 55-year-old woman who lives on Cedar Lane summoned law enforcement March 8 after 54-year-old Joseph Patrick Reed, of Spring Hill, refused to accept a $500 check made out to the company “Green Turf” for which he had claimed to work, according to an incident report from the Lady Lake Police Department. He demanded that the check be made out to him personally, something the woman said she had not agreed to when they made a verbal agreement for the work.

The woman told police that Reed had also told her that he did tree work for Water Oak. But Water Oak representatives who arrived on the scene said he had never worked for Water Oak and they did not know him.

A check revealed Reed was wanted on a Hillsborough County warrant charging him with felony littering/commercial dumping. He was taken into custody and booked at the Lake County Jail. He was released after posting $2,000 bond.

Reed had previously been arrested by Lady Lake police in 2015.
