Sumter County man killed when truck strikes tree

A Sumter County man was killed Saturday when his truck left the roadway and struck a tree.

Donald Victor, 71, of Bushnell, had been at the wheel of a 1988 Dodge Dakota at 5:07 p.m. on County Road 575 near SW 70th Road north of the Florida National Cemetery at Bushnell when he lost control of the vehicle, according to an accident report from the Florida Highway Patrol.

The truck left the roadway struck a traffic sign and then collided with a tree. He was transported to Bayonet Point Regional Medical Center where he died of injuries suffered in the crash.

The report noted Victor had not been wearing a seatbelt.
