Congressman Webster meets with official from The Villages Transportation

Congressman Daniel Webster

Last week, I met with the United Motorcoach Association. Glenn Cook from The Villages Transportation came to discuss the size, scope and impact of the motorcoach industry in the United States. As Congress considers legislation to improve American’s infrastructure, it is important to stay connected with local industry leaders and learn how changes will affect everyday Americans. As a member of the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee, I will be sure find solutions that work for Floridians.

Steve and Gina Waterhouse from The Villages and Kathleen Scovel from Spring Hill met with me in D.C. to talk about legislation I have supported to make strides in the fight against the Alzheimer’s disease. We also shared our personal experiences with this awful disease. My mother had Alzheimer’s disease the last two years of her life, and my wife and I cared for her in our home during that time. I have continued to advocate for funding for the National Institute of Health, who have estimated they will spend over $1.4 billion in Alzheimer’s disease research funding in FY19. Medical research funding is critically important in the search to develop treatments for diseases, which take a significant toll on the lives of millions of Americans.

Constituent Corner

A constituent from Fruitland Park recently reached out to my office because she was denied by benefits by Social Security. My office followed up on her appeal and sent an inquiry detailing the hardship that the constituent was experiencing while her case was being processed. SSA then flagged her case as a dire need, expediting the process. She had a hearing in October 2018 and received her benefits.

Constituent services is a critical element of our congressional office. The federal government is a massive operation, and my office is available if you ever need assistance in navigating the bureaucracy or cutting through red tape. We are here to serve you.
