Woman sentenced after crashing in roundabout after drinking at City Fire

Emily Rovers

A woman who said she had been drinking at City Fire and crashed in a roundabout in The Villages earlier this year has been sentenced in the case.

Sumter County sheriff’s deputies responded at 12:38 a.m. Jan. 19 to the crash at the roundabout at Morse Boulevard and Stillwater Trail.

A black Chevy Cruze with Illinois license plates was found with “significant damage” to the front driver’s side wheel. The driver was identified as 23-year-old Emily Josephine Roversi. The Chicago native told police she had just left City Fire “where she only had two drinks,” according to an arrest report. She admitted to deputies she should not have been driving.

There was at least $500 in damage to flowers and the sprinkler system in the roundabout. Her vehicle’s hubcap was found in the roundabout.

Roversi failed field sobriety exercises and provided breath samples that registered .163 and .159 blood alcohol content. She was arrested on a charge of driving under the influence with property damage.

Last month in Sumter County Court, Roversi pleaded guilty in the case.

She will lose her driver’s license for six months and has been placed on probation for one year. She also has been ordered to perform 80 hours of community service.
