Residents pack Villages restaurant to support Florida Sheriffs Youth Ranches

Johnny Rockets at Lake Sumter Landing was packed Wednesday night with Villagers and their guests to support the Florida Sheriffs Youth Ranches programs.

The Sumter County Sheriff’s Office staffed the Dining with a Deputy event with 13 employees, including deputies, school resource officers and civilian support staff.

Kevin and Monica Berry of the Village of Hadley were pleasantly surprised  to find that their dinner was helping to support the Florida Sheriffs Youth Ranches program. The youth ranch program was started in 1957 and has grown over the years to include four residential campuses, summer camps and special events across the state. The mission of the Sheriffs Youth Ranches program is to prevent delinquency and to develop productive citizens.

The  Sumter County Sheriff’s Office will be hosting the Fourth Annual Derby Day on Saturday, May 4.

This event benefits The Florida Sheriff’s Youth Ranches and will take place at The Villages Polo Fields.

The event will be held from 2 to 7 p.m. with gates opening at 1 p.m. This event will include: dinner, entertainment, silent auction, live auction, 50/50 drawing and a hat contest.
