Search under way for golf club thief who struck store near The Villages

Sumter County sheriff’s detectives are searching for a man whole stole a $500 driver from a local golf store recently.

Sumter County sheriff’s detectives are searching for a man they believe took a $500 golf club from Johnny’s Birdie Golf on E County Road 466.

The thief reportedly went into Johnny’s Birdie Golf, located at 8590 E County Road 466 just outside The Villages, on April 9 and stole a TaylorMade M6 Driver. The man, shown in photos above, exited the side door of the golf shop and left in what appeared to be a white Nissan Rogue, a sheriff’s office report states.

Anyone with information about the crime or the identity of the man is asked to contact Sumter County sheriff’s Detective DeArmond at (352) 793-2621 or Crimeline at 1 (800) 423-TIPS (8477). Those calling Crimeline should reference case number 1799.
