House of Hope looking for help from community at time of great need

The House of Hope has grown and thrived over the past few years at its current campus in Wildwood. More than 100 men with addictions have entered the residential Christian-based program and returned to families with changed lives, free from the chains of addiction.

House of Hope was recently informed that the ministry must be out of its current campus by July 1 and find a new home for residents and staff. The good news is that House of Hope has secured temporary housing for the 12 men currently in the recovery program. A long-term solution is still being sought.

To support this ministry, House of Hope has received a two-for-one matching grant up to $50,000 to fund purchase of land and construction of buildings for its new campus. Each dollar donated through a church will be matched by another donor ministry. Donations must be clearly marked for House of Hope capital campaign. For details and instructions, contact Mary Starkey at (352) 348-0840 or email starkeymb@embarqmail.com.

A fundraiser for House of Hope will be held at 7 p.m. Monday, April 29 at Hope Lutheran Church. The Silver Strummers will be performing and all proceeds will go to support House of Hope. This group also features country legend Margo Smith, a member of the Grand Ole Opry, and internationally famous Phil Caltabellotta on classical harmonica. Tickets are $15 and available through The Villages Box Office or contact Mary Starkey at (352) 348-0840 or email starkeymb@embarqmail.com.
