A Villager is unhappy she can’t golf with her father in Florida’s Friendliest Hometown because he’s a longtime Stonecrester.
Village of LaBelle South resident Linda Casey took her case Monday morning to the Project Wide Advisory Committee, which oversees amenities south of County Road 466.
She said her father, who became a resident of Stonecrest in 1992, is the reason she relocated here. But she wishes she could golf or use other amenities in The Villages with her father, who will turn 90 on July 4.
However, The Villages has a longstanding policy that doesn’t allow residents of the tri-county area to use amenities which are limited to Villagers and their guests.
“He’s not welcome here,” Casey said.
She suggested that an allowance be made for local parents of Villages residents.
District Manager Richard Baier said District staff would not be in favor of making such a change due to “abuses in the past.”
In addition, he pointed out this question was raised recently before the Amenity Authority Committee, which decided against reopening the debate of this longstanding policy.
