A Lady Lake couple wound up in jail after an altercation over text messages.
Lake County sheriff’s deputies were called at 1:45 a.m. Saturday to 4231 Illicium Lane, where 33-year-old Ashley Lee Stokes said the fight had broken out over text messages being sent by her boyfriend, 29-year-old Mitchell Wolski. She said Wolski had been outside the residence sending text messages. When she approached him to inquire about who he was texting, he grabbed her by the neck and threw her to the ground, according to an arrest report. He then got on top of her, held her by the neck and slapped her face.
Wolski told deputies that Stokes drinks and becomes belligerent. He claimed she attacked him and he had to put her in a bear hug.
The report noted that Stokes had yard debris in her hair and a small abrasion on the left side of her back.
Both were arrested on charges of domestic battery. Stokes and Wolski were booked at the Lake County Jail. Each posted $500 and were released.
