Roger Lauzon

Roger P. Lauzon passed away following a long illness on May 14, 2019. He was a long time resident of the Villages, having moved here from West Haven, Connecticut in 1987.

He was born in Providence, Rhode Island on August 20, 1925. He and his wife Doris celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary in November. She recently passed away on January 18, 2019.

Roger served honorably in the Navy during WW II, serving on the destroyer USS Jouett (DD-396) during D-Day, and on the destroyer escort USS Major (DE-796) during the Philippine liberation in the Pacific.

He is survived by his five children: Suzette Daywalt (John); Dennis Lauzon (Jane); Richard Lauzon (Donna); Emile Lauzon (Cindy); and Paul Lauzon (Pamela), as well as 10 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.

He enjoyed playing bingo at the Paradise Recreation Center, as well as other bingo halls throughout the local area. He also enjoyed working on jigsaw puzzles and watching baseball.

Viewing will be at Beyers Funeral Home, Lady Lake, FL, on Sunday, May 19, 2019, 3:00 to 5:00 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Mark the Evangelist Church on Monday, May 20, 2019 at 10:00 AM. Interment will follow with military honors at Florida National Cemetery at Bushnell.
