Villagers for Veterans preparing for annual gala and special book-signing event

Villagers for Veterans is preparing to host two special events.

The annual Orchid Gala will be held Thursday, May 23 at 6 p.m. at Savannah Center. The program, which is sold out, will honor women veterans. Special Challenge coins will be given to each female veteran in attendance.

Sgt. John Peck

“We love honoring their service and sacrifice,” said Villagers for Veterans Founder and President Marie Bogdonoff.

The group also plans to hold a book-signing event for Sgt. John Peck on Saturday, June 1 from 2-4 p.m. at the Eisenhower Recreation Center. Peck, who two years ago received a double-arm transplant, will be speaking and signing books for those in attendance who would like to make a donation.

“His journey is amazing,” Bogdonoff said.

Villagers for Veterans is hosting the event along with The Col. Phillip C. Delong Detachment #1267 of the Marine Corps League. Those in attendance will be able to meet Peck and enjoy dessert, Bogdonoff said.
