Woman arrested in The Villages after drinking all day and then getting pushy

Melinda Marksberry

A woman was arrested in The Villages after drinking all day and then getting pushy.

Melinda Marksberry, 45, had consumed alcohol throughout the day Saturday before she was arrested on a charge of battery.

A man said he and his wife had been watching television when Marksberry entered the room from the back porch of their home, according to an arrest report from the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office. He went to get a trash can for Marksberry, who had announced that she was going to get sick. As he was walking into the kitchen with his back turned, Marksberry shoved him with both hands. He was able to catch himself against a wall.

The couple said it is a “recurring incident almost every night” with Marksberry drinking all day and then screaming and cursing at them for no apparent reason.

Marksberry was booked at the Sumter County Detention Center and released after posting $2,000 bond.
