Wife seeks order of protection after alleged attack by her husband

A woman in the Village of Largo has obtained a temporary court order for protection after an alleged attack by her husband.

Ronald Saunders, 69, who lives with his wife at 758 Cordova Circle in the Village of Largo, was arrested at 3:50 p.m. Wednesday by Sumter County sheriff’s deputies on a charge of battery.

His wife told deputies that while she and Saunders were in a verbal argument, he punched her in the back while she was walking away, according to the arrest report. She had a small red mark on her back which was consistent with what she alleged. An eyewitness verified her account of what had occurred.

The following day she received the temporary injunction against her husband. A hearing for a permanent injunction is set for June 5 in Sumter County Court.

Saunders remained behind bars this weekend at the Sumter County Detention Center on $2,000 bond.

The couple purchased their designer home in 2007.
