Villager’s son who didn’t pay child support lands behind bars

Ryan Michael McDonough

A Villager’s son who has fallen behind on his child support landed behind bars after he was caught driving with marijuana in his car.

Ryan Michael McDonough, 35, who lives with his mother at 2102 Pink Blossom Court in the Hydrangea Villas in the Village of St. Charles, at 11:27 p.m. Tuesday had been at the wheel of a blue four-door Volvo with New York plates when he was pulled over in the area of Morse Boulevard and State Road 44 for a faulty taillight. A check revealed McDonough’s New York driver’s license had been suspended for failure to pay child support, according to an arrest report from the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office. His driver’s license had also been suspended in Florida for failure to appear in court.

The deputy detected the odor of marijuana and asked McDonough if he had been smoking the drug. McDonough said he had just dropped off a friend who left marijuana in the glovebox. Less than 20 grams of marijuana was found in the glovebox.

McDonough was arrested on charges of driving on a suspended license and possession of marijuana. He was booked at the Sumter County Detention Center and released after posting $1,500 bond.
