Police track down Oakleaf Apartments woman who took Uber to shoplift

Kristina Knatz

Lady Lake police have tracked down a resident of the Oakleaf Apartments who apparently took an Uber to go with her child to shoplift chocolate Reese’s eggs prior to Easter.

Police made contact on June 2 with 32-year-old Kristina Marie Knatz at her apartment in the complex on County Road 466. She was advised by police that she had been captured on video in April entering the Dollar General on U.S. Hwy. 27/441 and stealing Reese’s chocolate eggs, according to an arrest report. The eggs were valued at $7.70.

The store manager had seen Knatz get into a black four-door Volkswagen and he got the car’s license plate number. It was traced back to an Uber driver.

The driver told police he had picked up Knatz and a child at the Lake North Apartments, located near the Oakleaf Apartments. She went into the store, returned to the Uber and the driver took Knatz and the child back to the Lake North Apartments.

She was issued a notice to appear in Lake County Court on June 18 to answer to a charge of petit theft.

Knatz had been arrested May 18 after she was caught on video in a pair of incidents at Target at Rolling Acres Plaza.

Knatz had previously been arrested on a charge of theft in 2010.
