Publix manager turns over $100 after finding unclaimed lottery tickets

A Marion County sheriff’s deputy was called to a Villages grocery store Monday after an assistant manager found lottery scratch-off tickets worth $100.

When the deputy arrived at the Publix grocery store, store, located at 8780 SE 165th Mulberry Lane in the Mulberry Grove Shopping Plaza, the assistant manager handed him five $20 bills. He reported that he found the two unclaimed Florida Lottery tickets and scratched both of them, with one being a $100 winner.

Per Publix policy, the assistant manager said he redeemed the ticket at the store and due to the winnings being more than $50, he contacted the sheriff’s office.

The deputy entered the money into evidence at the sheriff’s South Multi-District office and provided the assistant manager with a case number for his records.
