Abandoned home penalties in the Merry Oak Villas

To the Editor:

I have to question the article in today’s paper — did this infraction really take place a month ago — April?
If so, why is the reporter not updating info on the penalties assessed? It has been long enough the penalties should have already happened. I think  the owner of the Merry Oak Villa who is in default needs to take a lesson from the playbook of the owner of the distressed properties on McLawren Terrace.
The owner of those two homes (17086 & 17092) has been able to thumb their noses at CDD4’s Neat and Clean ordinance for the past year with no ill effect.
It seems to me the code is not being enforced at all in that case–so where are the teeth in our CDD 4 rules and regs?
