Man who once disrupted Villages BBQ Bash jailed after battle over dogs

Patrick Michael Faunce

A Summerfield man who once interfered with the annual BBQ Bash in The Villages is behind bars in the Marion County Jail after battling with a woman over his dogs.

The victim told deputies on Tuesday that she had originally agreed to take care of dogs belonging to 40-year-old Patrick Michael Faunce. She said she asked him to take the animals back but he refused and then allegedly told her he was going to shoot her, her dogs and his dogs, a sheriff’s office report states.

The woman said she told Faunce she was going to call law enforcement to come get him off her property and report his threats. She said he then grabbed her hand and twisted it, forcing her to drop the phone as she was calling for help. She said she wasn’t able to complete the 911 call until Faunce left her residence, the report says.

Deputies noted that the woman’s hands were still shaking and she wasn’t able to make a fist with the hand she claimed Faunce grabbed. One middle finger also appeared redder than the other and the woman said it felt swollen, the report says.

Deputies then responded to Faunce’s residence at SE 146th Street in Summerfield. He said he and the woman were arguing over the dogs but claimed he never touched her, the report says.

A criminal background check showed that Faunce has a prior arrest for domestic violence with the same victim in Marion County. He also has several convictions on battery charges, with a most recent of aggravated domestic battery in Lady Lake on Feb. 13, 2004, the report says.

Faunce was taken into custody and transported to the Marion County Jail, where he was charged with battery (second or subsequent offense) and third degree tampering in a felony proceeding. He is being held on no bond and is due in court July 23 at 9 a.m. to answer to the charges.

An intoxicated Faunce was arrested in March 2016 after he allegedly interfered with volunteers setting up for the annual BBQ Bash in Spanish Springs Town Square. He allegedly kicked a Lady Lake police officer and was taken to the Lake County Jail.
