Wildwood woman arrested with methamphetamine after disobeying stop sign

Valerie Lee Ohl

A Wildwood woman was arrested with methamphetamine after disobeying a stop sign.

Valerie Lee Ohl, 49, had been driving a maroon pickup at 10:15 a.m. Monday when she failed to stop at a stop sign at Park Street and Legion Avenue, according to an arrest report from the Wildwood Police Department.

Ohl, who was “extremely nervous and profusely sweating,” said she was sorry for running the stop sign and that she was in a hurry because she was late for work. A K-9 unit arrived on the scene and alerted on Ohl’s vehicle. She admitted she had a bag on her waistband containing methamphetamine. The Ohio native admitted she is a methamphetamine user.

She was arrested on a felony charge of methamphetamine possession and booked on $2,000 bond at the Sumter County Detention Center.

She was issued written warnings for failure to stop at a stop sign and no proof of insurance.
