A Wildwood woman was transported to Leesburg Regional Medical Center after an altercation with her live-in boyfriend.

Meagan Elise Kirkwood, 20, was arrested on a misdemeanor charge of battery as a result of the altercation that occurred Sunday at a home in the 800 block of Lee Street, according to an arrest report from the Wildwood Police Department.

Kirkwood was getting into the back of an ambulance when police arrived on the scene.

Kirkwood’s boyfriend of five years told police she had forcibly entered a bedroom and began to strike him. He had suffered scratches and abrasions on both arms, his chest and on his back, the report said.

Kirkwood claimed her boyfriend had slammed her to the ground, but she did not appear to have suffered any injury.

She was booked at the Sumter County Detention Center and released after posting $2,000 bond.
