Woman who took ‘too much medication to prepare for long car ride’ arrested on State Road 44

Brenda Sayer Weiler

A woman who took “too much medication to prepare for a long car ride” was arrested after a report of an erratic driver on State Road 44.

Brenda Sayer Weiler, 62, of Hernando, had been at the wheel of a silver Chevy Cruze shortly before 3 p.m. Monday when the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office received a call about a driver swerving, as well as speeding up and slowing down.

She was pulled over at the Pilot gas station on East State Road 44. She told the officer she was on her way to Homestead.

Weiler repeatedly dropped her car keys and had “a blank stare,” according to the arrest report. She had multiple prescribed medications in her purse, including Hydrocodone, Carisoprodol and Clonazepam.

She failed field sobriety exercises

Weiler told the deputy she “took too much medication to prepare for a long car ride.” A check revealed she had a previous conviction for driving under the influence in 1989 in Miami.

Weiler was taken into custody on charges of driving under the influence and drug possession. She was booked on $4,000 bond at the Sumter County Detention Center.
