Intoxicated woman arrested after attempting to barge into couple’s residence

Paula Helm

An intoxicated woman was arrested after attempting to barge into a couple’s residence in Lady Lake.

Officers responded at about 6 p.m. July 6 to an apartment in the 100 block of Shenandoah Avenue after the couple heard a knock on the door and found 54-year-old Paula Helm standing in the doorway. They told Helm to leave and that she was not welcome on their property.

Helm attempted to push past the couple and force her way into their home. Helm, who also lives on Shenandoah Avenue, put her foot in the door to prevent the couple from closing the door.

Helm, who was visibly intoxicated, claimed she had not tried to enter the residence.

She was arrested on a charge of disorderly intoxication and booked at the Lake County Jail. She was released after posting $500 bond.
