A 44-year-old Lady Lake man has been jailed without bond after sending text messages to an estranged girlfriend he had attacked a day earlier.
Jose Luis Ibarra was arrested at noon Saturday at his home at 107 Mark Ave. for violation of a no contact order.
Ibarra had been free on $10,000 bond following his arrest Friday on a charge of domestic battery. His girlfriend of two years went to the Lady Lake Police Department after the attack. She had told Ibarra she “was done and leaving him for good,” according to an arrest report. Ibarra responded by grabbing the woman by the neck and shoving her onto a bed where he held her down. The woman kicked Ibarra in the groin and was able to break free.
After he was released on bond, Ibarra sent text messages to the woman in violation of his bond conditions. He told her he did not care if he went back to jail.
Ibarra admitted to police he had sent the text messages.
“I am stupid,” he told police as he held out his hands to be handcuffed.
