20-year-old Wildwood man jailed after taking .22-caliber weapon

Stefhon Terrence Johnson

A 20-year-old Wildwood man was jailed after taking a .22-caliber weapon from an individual in a car outside an apartment building.

Stefhon Terrence Johnson was arrested on a felony charge of robbery Sunday afternoon at the Wildwood Town Homes at 301 E. Gulf-Atlantic Highway.

Johnson and another man had attempted to engage in a financial transaction for the handgun using counterfeit money, according to an arrest report from the Wildwood Police Department.

Johnson claimed to be armed with a gun when he approached the vehicle in the parking lot. He demanded that the .22-caliber firearm be turned over to him when the individual with the gun in the car recognized that the money he had been given was counterfeit. Johnson actually had a cell phone in his pocket which he claimed was a gun.

He was booked at the Sumter County Detention Center on $10,000 bond.
