Marion sheriff’s deputy assists Sumter detective in recovery of stolen golf cart

A Marion County sheriff’s deputy was called Monday to assist a Sumter County detective in the recovery of a stolen golf cart.

The deputy and the detective met at the county line on U.S. 301. The Sumter detective said she had located the stolen golf cart about 200 yards into Marion County next to the railroad tracks, about 20 feet down a steep rocky embankment next to a wood line.

After confirming it was the golf cart that had been reported stolen in Sumter County, Clifford’s Towing responded and took it to a tow yard in Belleview. The detective said she would contact the victim and provide updated information. The deputy then gave her with a case number and contact information for future reference.
