The Wal-Mart at Buffalo Ridge Plaza in The Villages was evacuated Thursday afternoon.

All customers were ordered to leave the store at about 5:30 p.m. due to a bomb threat.

An unspecified threat was received at the store and as a precaution, the store was evacuated, the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office has confirmed.

The Lake County Sheriff’s Office bomb squad has been summoned to investigate.

The Villages Public Safety Department was on standby at the store.
