What is the purpose of the little white crosses?

To the Editor:

What is the purpose of the little white crosses on many lawns in The Villages?
What is the message the homeowner wants us to get?
Do the residents of the crosses also wish to see the Civil War battle flags displayed on lawns?
What about Swastikas? These can be in favor with some.
What about free speech and religious freedom?
If white crosses are OK so should other symbols.
