Counterfeit currency was discovered in a cash drawer at a Winn-Dixie supermarket in The Villages.
Store personnel contacted law enforcement after the discovery of the two bogus $100 bills which had no water mark, security strip or hologram.
The bills were spent at the store at Spanish Springs on Aug. 1 by two different individuals. The first made a $3.17 purchase at 6:06 p.m., according to an incident report from the Lady Lake Police Department. A second purchase occurred at 6:17 p.m. It was for $8.07.
Both bills were seized as evidence.
