Lewis Maier

Lewis Marvin Maier, 78, of Wildwood, passed away Friday, August 16, 2019.

Mr. Maier was born February 17, 1941 in Wildwood to the late Daisey Mae (Pait) and Paul William Maier. Lewis graduated from Wildwood High School and Central Florida Junior College in Ocala. He also attended the University of Florida. He served in the U.S. Navy for 6 years, sailing on the USS Truckee and specializing in Electronic Technology.

Lewis’ career path included working for the Seaboard Airline Railroad, the National Aero and Space Administration at Kennedy Space Center and then with the telephone company until his retirement with Sprint after 25 years of service. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Wildwood and enjoyed softball, baseball, football, swimming, photography, electronic repair and auto mechanics.

Survivors include his loving wife of 48 years, Linda; children, Jason & Desiree Maier of Wildwood and Jon & Thressa Maier of Oxford; siblings, Kay & James Wall of Webster, Larry & Louise Maier of Sumterville, Terry & Virginia Maier of Tallahassee; sister-in-law, Joyce Maier; grandchildren, Brecca Maier, Kara Maier and Hunter Maier along with many nieces and nephews. Lewis was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Eugene Maier.

Lewis’ family and friends will celebrate his life 4:00pm, Saturday, August 24, 2019, in the Banks/Page-Theus Chapel with a service and military honors. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Marion County, Ted and Diane Brandley House, www.hospiceofmarion.com.
