72-year-old woman suffers dog bite during estate sale in The Villages

A 72-year-old woman suffered a dog bite during an estate sale being held at a home in The Villages.

The woman said she was at the estate sale at a home on Alcazar Court in the Village of Mira Mesa on Aug. 17 when a small black dog bit her on the front of her left leg above the ankle, according to an incident report from the Lady Lake Police Department. She said she would seek treatment at Ocala Regional Medical Center and did not wish for police to summon EMS personnel.

The dog’s owner, a 25-year-old woman from Jacksonville, said the three-year-old Chihuahua/terrier mix named Wednesday “ran off” and entered the room where the incident occurred.

The Lady Lake animal control officer completed a bite report and faxed it to the Lake County Health Department after confirming that Wednesday had been properly vaccinated against rabies.
