The Community Development District 8 Board of Supervisors on Friday rendered a decision on a Purple Heart recipient’s request for more time to pursue a discrimination case regarding his improperly extended driveway at his home in The Villages.
Kevin McCabe and his wife, Jean, have been fighting for the right to keep their extended driveway in the Hallandale Villas.
The McCabes and several of their neighbors were turned in more than a year ago for unauthorized driveway extensions. The residents of the patio villa community were victims of an anonymous complaint. Other homeowners gave up the fight, but the McCabes have fought for and won a number of extensions as they continue to pursue a discrimination claim through the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, based on Kevin McCabe’s disabilities, which are a result of his military service.
The McCabes had already been granted more time by the CDD 8 Board and on Friday won another extension. The board granted the McCabes’ request without any discussion.
