Judy’s Soap Box

To the Editor:

It is the duty of the president and Congress to make sure we have a healthy economy.
The president recently met and consulted with the top three CEO international bankers (banks are corporations) regarding the economy.
One talking news head said, the president was right to do that since it is now a “global financial system”.
Going to the top bankers to solve a problem they created is not the right thing to do. The problem is that it is a “global financial system” with international bankers wanting profit above all else.
First, President Trump is not king of the world (global financial economy) but president of the U.S.  He represents us, his constituents. It is our money not international bankers to profit and do as they please.
Donald went to a top business university. What is happening with the U.S. economy should be known by him.
It is Economics 101.I took that course myself at the university as a business major.
Consumers are not buying or investing since they have less extra money from their wages to purchase refrigerators, new cars, entertainment, homes, stocks, savings, etc.
Workers need more than minimum wage. Today, many workers have to have two jobs part time jobs to survive buying food and shelter let alone buy a new car, home, health care, take vacations, etc.
Every third world country has low wages and lower standard of living. Their few elite are filthy rich. There is no middle class or few of them.
Remember when NAFTA and WTO was going to bring other poor country workers up to our level and standard of living? Didn’t happen because all of us are having a lower standard of living with the few elite getting richer (such as CEO world bankers, corporate heads, Wall Street vultures, etc).  It caused even more workers and their families to flow here escaping poverty, slavery and corruption. Corporations are at fault.
So Orwellian of you President Trump asking the people who caused the problem to solve it. They ARE the problem. Solve that with bank regulations, trade and enforcement of laws already on the books.
President Trump, I know you learned about this American.
Henry Ford was an inventor\capitalist who believed in socialism. Henry Ford figured out he had to pay his workers enough wages so they could afford to buy his automobiles. He also made sure his workers were healthy, had good homes and a thriving community with necessary services. At the same time, he still became a very rich man.
Learn by example Congress and President Trump. It made us great in the past.
