A 74-year-old woman was arrested after allegedly threatening her live-in man friend with a knife.
Police officers were called shortly before 9 p.m. Monday to the PepperTree Apartments, where a man said he had been chased by Rebecca Thompson, according to an arrest report from the Wildwood Police Department. He said he had been in a bedroom asleep when Thompson woke him up, while holding a knife.
“I’m going to kill you because you wrecked my car,” she told the man, who has been living with Thompson since March. The couple had been “intimate” as recently as this week, the report noted.
The man said Thompson chased him around the house and he was “scared” that she was going to stab him. He also claimed she punched him. He provided a sworn statement to police.
Thompson was arrested on felony charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and a misdemeanor charge of battery. She was booked at the Sumter County Detention Center, where she initially was held without bond.
