Wednesday marked 18 years since the attacks of 9/11. Congress held a moment of silence at 8:46 a.m. to remember the nearly 3,000 lives lost that day.
Recently, we passed legislation that extends the authorization and funding for the 9/11 Victims Compensation Fund (VCF) through 2090.
I supported this legislation.
Countless lives were saved that day thanks to the selfless bravery of first responders and strangers. We remember and honor these brave individuals.
Many of them lost their lives that day and many of those who survived are battling physical ailments as a result of their heroic efforts.
